Buying Your Second Hand Ford
Having decided to buy a second hand Ford, you probably have a good idea of the model you require. With a wide range of choice from the compact, through the family saloon, the sporty RS models and the all wheel drives, there will be something to suit your requirements and pocket. You can buy your car in many ways, from a Ford main Dealership, from any car dealer, or used car supermarket, privately, or for the more knowledgeable from the auction, or even the internet.
If you can afford a nearly new car from a main dealer the cars all comply with their original specifications and have a full service history. They will also have been checked with previous mileage logs, that it has not been an insurance write off, previously stolen or has outstanding credit.
Buying a car privately is always more risky. You buy as seen, with maybe a short test drive, and usually make a decision within half an hour. All cars are built with the Ford manufacture and design quality, but there is no guarantee what has happened to it since it left the forecourt as a new vehicle. Once you drive away you will probably never see the person who sold you it again, and any future problems are your responsibility. This is also the case with buying from an Auction, although they do have more legal pressure to only state the truth, sometimes what is not said is more important.
Buying a car from the internet is becoming much more popular and allows a wider geographical range to both the buyer and seller. There is obviously more risk to this kind of purchase the less contact you have with the vendor. However used as a contact method for a private purchase it should carry no more risk than that type of transaction.
Where ever you buy your car, and which model of second hand Ford you choose. With a little caution you can have many miles of happy motoring ahead.
